Affinity Health Plan and ProgenyHealth® Launch Partnership to Improve NICU Infant Care and Outcomes
Plymouth Meeting, PA, July 13, 2020 – ProgenyHealth, LLC, announced today it has contracted with Affinity Health Plan to provide comprehensive care management services for their newborn members admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) or special care nursery after birth. Based in the Bronx, the mission of Affinity Health Plan is to improve the health and well-being of its members, their families, and their communities in collaboration with primary care providers. Affinity strives to be the health plan of choice for its members and its providers by assuring access to high quality, cost-effective care, delivering the best customer experience, and improving the overall health and quality of life of its members.
ProgenyHealth’s program, powered by the company’s proprietary Baby Trax® platform, includes three core components that will help ensure all those working towards the best outcomes for Affinity’s NICU infant population are fully aligned and supported in achieving this goal.
- Utilization Management – ProgenyHealth’s team of board-certified neonatologists, pediatric intensivists, and nurses work collaboratively with hospital-based teams to ensure efficient and effective care plans are in place supporting evidence-based best practices so each infant has the best health outcome possible.
- Case Management – ProgenyHealth case managers engage with mothers and families upon admission to the NICU, and throughout the first year of life, to help them become educated, empowered caregivers. They will assist with discharge planning, screen mothers for postpartum depression, and connect families with solutions to a range of issues that are potential impediments to an infant’s health and well-being.
- Payment Validation & Assurance– ProgenyHealth’s Payment Validation & Assurance proactively ensures NICU claims are paid in alignment with what was authorized, so errors in billing are reduced and hospitals and providers are paid in an accurate and timely fashion.
“ProgenyHealth is the right partner to provide comprehensive services for the most medically vulnerable among our youngest members,” said Dr. Scott Breidbart, Affinity Health Plan’s Chief Medical Officer. “While we have case managers who handle the complex health needs of our general population, ProgenyHealth offers the specialized utilization management and case management that is needed for newborns with challenging medical needs.”
Ellie Stang, MD, ProgenyHealth’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, adds that, “Now, more than ever, it is so important to ensure vulnerable Medicaid populations have timely access to high quality health care. Within the NICU infant populations we serve, the challenges are many, and our primary job is to work collaboratively with community-based providers and our plan partners to ensure that each and every infant has what they need for a healthy first year of life and beyond. We’re very excited to begin our good work together with Affinity Health Plan delivering our comprehensive care management program to their premature and medically complex newborn population.”
